The masons get with it!

June 28, 2007
The masons are making progress as can be observed. When I went by to check on Wednesday they were going through the entire interior, caulking, inspecting and repairing every blemish, all the seams and joints around counter tops and vanities were sealed. Also all the windows have been caulked and sealed from the inside. All these areas will be repainted at which point the bedrooms can be carpeted. It looks like I will close on the house at the end of July.

The mason shows up!

June 26, 2007
As you can see the mason got started! The redone wall has been stuccoed today and the stone trim around the windows has begun. Hopefully we'll see steady progress on the masonry work until it's done.

More plumbing work

June 26, 2007
More views of the plumbing work in the laundry room, kitchen faucet and the water heater area in the garage. Still to be installed is the R.O. system, water softener system and another deep tub in the garage. You can see in the kitchen where the tile has been covered in brown paper, I guess to protect it from the other workers.

Game room 1/2 bath

June 26, 2007
Just a view of the half bath off the game room. Mirrors and towel rack need to be installed in all three bathrooms.

Garage door

First Day of Summer!
A couple of shots of the garage doors just before painting and then later on the same day.
They are still working on the floor tile. It's a big job and will take a few days into next week.
Still no sight of the mason!

What's to come

June 20,2007
I stopped by the house today and there was some activity since Monday. The bathroom vanities and the shower in the hall bathroom have been installed. I was surprised to see a tile crew unloading the floor tile and actually starting to lay the tile. This is the last major job to be done other than the outside masonry work. The two ceiling fans that come with the house were installed but are only six inches from the ceiling. They look just fine but they are not remote controlled. After talking to Mike, The Super, five speed control switches are to be installed next to the on/off switches for the fans. With eight foot ceilings it wouldn't have been a problem but with ten foot ceilings it is. The design center never mentioned this to me so the builder is installing the switches with no penalty. They usually charge $50 for every change after the contract is signed.
I'll take more photos tomorrow if I can.

Tidbits

June 20, 2007
The first image is of the back of the shower. It's hard to distinguish the color but is does show the shelves and the shower seat in case I get lazy in my old age. That's not just an A/C box, there actually is an A/C heat pump unit underneath. The third photo shows the materials that the mason dropped off about a week ago. Not even the builder knows when he will get started on the masonry trim. Mike, the super, said they can't get in touch with him. Maybe he got deported, LOL.

counter tops

June 20,2007 The counter tops have been installed. Everything needs to be cleaned and polished and it will look better when the appliances are in place. The appliances will have a black finish similar to what I have in my present house.

Trash cans are gone!

Evening of June 8, 2007
Here are some views of the house on Friday evening. This is the first time that I've had the opportunity to take a photo without the big white trash cans blocking some part of the view. All of the outside doors including those white garage doors will be painted to more closely match the color of the house. Other outside projects to be done are installation of the decorative rock around the entryway, windows and doors, finish the roof around the entryway and the final grading of the yard.

Concrete done

Evening of June 8, 2007
The major concrete projects have been done. As you can see the driveway is done with a nice transition into the walkway on the south side of the house.

Driveway half done

June 8, 2007 The driveway was half done on Thursday. I took a closeup of the front entry light fixture. With street lights there should be enough light at night. The driveway should be completed along with all the electrical, internal and external, by the weeks end.

Shower progress

June 8, 2007 The tile floor is finished in the shower. Next step is the shower walls and the vanity tops in the bathroom. Electrical is done.

Snail shower

June 5, 2007 The glass block wall is finished for the snail shower and the tile is done on the floor of the shower.
Hopefully they will complete the tile portion of the shower on Wednesday. but who knows.
I've been informed that the schedule for the concrete pour on the driveway is for Friday.

Dirt work

June 5, 2007 They finally got to moving some dirt. They were scheduled to get this done last Wednesday but today was the day. You can see where the sidewalk from the side ties into the driveway. They made it nice and wide and tied it into the foundation of the house. The steel pin in the last photo is the property line you can see there is a little plot of ground for a saguaro and maybe a century plant. Neither requiring very much water.

Clean windows

June 1, 2007 Today they were cleaning up the house. Notice the back door has been installed and the windows are very clean. Inside the house they are working on the shower in the master bathroom as well as cleaning up the inside and scraping the floors. What's left to be done? Install floor tile. install granite counter tops, install granatex in both bathrooms, plumbing fixtures, electrical fixtures and finally the carpet in the two bedrooms. As you can see the outside is almost done with the driveway to be formed and poured next week. Garage doors were ordered today.
